Description9ct gold Naval Crown brooch. The sails of the brooch are done with a brushed finish and the prows with a polished finish. Size: 3.2cms wide x 1.9cms high Made by Alabaster and WilsonKing's Own Scottish Borderers Regimental sweetheart brooch exquisitely made 18ct gold and enamel. In the centre of the yellow gold cross of St Andrew in white gold is Edinburgh Castle with three turrets and each with a flag flying to the left. The castle is surrounded in a blue enamel circlet at the back of the brooch "KING"S OWN SCOTTISH BORDERERS". Above and below the circlet within blue enamel scrolls "IN VERITATE RELIGIONIS CONFIDO NISI DOMINUS FRUSTRA" A wreath of green enamel thistles with purple flowers surrounds the circlet and the Royal Crest with red enamelled St Edwards Crown surmounts the brooch. The piece is made in three separate pieces, the most expensive method of making and all riveted at the back. To the rear the 9ct gold pin securely fastens in a C catch.There are no hallmarks on the brooch. With the Kings Crown and King George VI insignia in the centre. All mounted in 14ct yellow gold and platinum settings for the Rose cut diamonds. This brooch would have been made between 1936 and 1952, and it is secured in place with a handmade Tiffany catch.
