The castle is surrounded in a blue enamel circlet at the back of the brooch "KING"S OWN SCOTTISH BORDERERS". Above and below the circlet within blue enamel scrolls "IN VERITATE RELIGIONIS CONFIDO NISI DOMINUS FRUSTRA" A wreath of green enamel thistles with purple flowers surrounds the circlet and the Royal Crest with red enamelled St Edwards Crown surmounts the brooch.
