This is a set on a gold bar brooch. The gold used is stamped 15ct on the bar and the emblem itself is engraved by hand with 15ct.

The gold used in this brooch is all 15ct yellow and the condition of the piece given its age is superb. The wings have a lovely curvature which is shown in the picture of the brooch on its side. The RFC was the earliest form of the what would then become the RAF when it merged with the Royal Navy Air Service in 1918. All indicators as the the age of this brooch, being at least easily 100 years old and still in excellent condition. The brooch would have been made before 1932, as that is when they stopped using 15ct gold. This was always reserved for the higher quality pieces and it is secured in place with a very traditional C safety clasp, again typical of a much older brooch. Measures 56mm wide x 18mm high Supplied in a Connards Presentation box Second HandRuby and diamond oval open "Circle" brooch, this beautifully attractive brooch, with four pairs of modern brilliant cut diamonds, each separated by 3 rubies in a classical oval shaped brooch. The diamonds each mounted in four claw 18ct white gold and the rubies in four claw 18ct yellow gold settings. Fitted with a traditional rollover safety catch on the pin fastening.
